NJ Democrats, Environmentalists Call for State to Join RGGI

The Star-Ledger’s Brent Johnson reports Democratic lawmakers praised the proposal and called for New Jersey to rejoin the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative.

Jeff Tittel, president of the state chapter of environmental group the Sierra Club, said New Jersey should have no problem reaching the new standards. The state has cut greenhouse gas emission from power plants by 24 percent since 2005, according to the nonpartisan Georgetown Climate Center.
