Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) endorsed Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in his bid for the Republican nomination for president. King announced his support in a video posted to Cruz’s campaign website on Monday.
“With Ted Cruz, conservatives no longer have to accept a Republican nominee who doesn’t truly share our values,” King said in a statement attached to the video. “That is why I am asking every one of my fellow Iowa Republicans to join me in caucusing for Ted Cruz.”
Cruz has risen in the polls in recent weeks. As of the most recent Morning Consult tracking poll, he’s tied with Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) for fourth place in the Republican field, with both receiving 7 percent of the vote.
