Astronaut and retired U.S. Navy Capt. Scott Kelly testified on Thursday before the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology on the long-term health needs of astronauts. Kelly is uniquely qualified to testify: He spent a year in space, allowing NASA to monitor his health while comparing it to his earthbound twin, Mark. His body reacted violently in homecoming, Kelly said, breaking out in hives and rashes and coming down with flu-like symptoms.
Flanking Kelly are Naval Astronauts Capt. Christopher Cassidy, left, and Capt. Michael López-Alegría.
