Tech Stocks Drive Nasdaq to Record High

The Nasdaq Composite Index reached a record high on Tuesday, closing at 5,487.44 after declining from an intraday record earlier in the day.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq rose sharply after the opening bell, cresting over the 5,500 mark for the first time and settling at around 5,510 shortly after 10 a.m.

It’s the second time in the past week the Nasdaq has closed at a record high. On Dec. 20, the index was just under 5,484 at the closing bell.

Shares of Amazon.com Inc. rose 1.42 percent, and Apple Inc. shares climbed 0.64 percent on Tuesday.
