Despite tech’s recent tumult — marked by layoffs, declining consumer trust and the prospect of additional regulation — consumers remain confident in the industry’s future. More than half (54%) say tech’s best days are ahead, a share that’s almost unchanged since last summer, suggesting consumers remain largely unfazed by the sector’s latest challenges.

Upon being informed that as many as 1 in 8 asthma cases in children could be a result of pollution from natural gas stoves, 59% of Democrats expressed interest in replacing their gas ranges, compared with 37% of Republicans and 33% of independents. Parents came in second, with 57% interested in replacing their potentially harmful stoves after hearing the news, compared with a milder 44% of homeowners.

In the wake of Tyre Nichols’ death at the hands of Memphis police, 3 in 4 voters believe police violence against the public is a problem. Roughly 3 in 5 voters (62%) say law enforcement violence against Black people is widespread and common, compared with 38% who say it is rare.

Among U.S. consumers, 2 in 5 believe plant-based meats are good for the environment, compared with only 17% who say the same of traditional meats. On the flip side, just over half of consumers (51%) describe traditional meats as “tasty,” while a mere 8% say the same of plant-based alternatives.

In the wake of a winter rife with canceled flights and lost luggage, trust in airlines dropped to 61% among U.S. adults in January, falling 4 percentage points from the month previous and marking a low point since tracking began in late 2021.
