  • Google is the latest company adding to the so-called “cookie apocalypse” after it said it will begin to phase out the use of cross-website cookies on its Chrome browser, limiting the amount of user browsing data that brands and ad agencies can access. The Alphabet Inc. company said in a blog post that it hoped to develop alternative tools to “sustain an ad-supported web.” (Financial Times)
  • Alex Bogusky is leaving CPB again, a year and a half after he returned to become chief creative engineer at the agency he co-founded. Bogusky, regarded as one of the most high-profile creative voices in the ad world before exiting the industry in 2010, will keep an office at the agency in Boulder, Colo., according to a statement from Erik Sollenberg, global CEO of CPB. (Adweek)
  • In a letter to the Federal Trade Commission, Sen. Ron Wyden, a fierce critic of Big Tech, asked the regulator to investigate the ad-blocking industry for possible anti-competitive practices in allowing the largest digital ad companies, such as Google and Amazon.com Inc., to pay to get on “whitelists” so their ads can dodge the filters. The Democratic senator from Oregon also wrote that ad-blocking companies that are paid to put companies on whitelists should be “far more transparent” with its users. (The Verge)
