  • The Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund, the American Civil Liberties Union and a labor group are expected to announce today the filing of 23 new complaints against McDonald’s Corp., accusing the fast food giant of gender-based discrimination, sexual harassment and retaliation in the workplace after workers reported such incidents. The complaints, 20 of which were sent to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, is the third and largest round of EEOC complaints filed against McDonald’s in the last three years.   • Burger King, Hooters and Wendy’s Co. mocked Jack in the Box Inc. on Twitter after Kim Kardashian West sent out a vague tweet to her more than 60 million followers asking Jack in the Box to get in touch with her over a “serious complaint” about something she observed that “affected other customers at this particular location that was concerning.” Jack in the Box asked Kardashian West via Twitter to contact the company but has not disclosed any details.   • Whole Foods Market Inc. will eliminate disposable plastic straws used in its coffee bars, juice bars and cafes in its U.S., Canada and U.K. stores in July, replacing them with recyclable, compostable paper straws. Whole Foods is also reducing the size of its plastic produce bags and will put rotisserie chicken in bags instead of hard plastic containers; the three initiatives are expected to reduce roughly 800,000 pounds of plastic per year, according to the grocer.
