  • Sony Corp.’s Sony Interactive Entertainment has launched PlayStation Productions, a studio that will adapt the company’s catalog of more than 100 video games into films and television shows. Sony Pictures will aid with the distribution of films, but all production aspects will be handled by PlayStation Productions, which will be headed by Asad Qizilbash and Shawn Layden.   • Amazon Studios has returned the domestic distribution rights for “A Rainy Day in New York” to director Woody Allen, allowing him to proceed with an alternative domestic distribution plan, according to an individual close to the project. Representatives for Amazon Studios and Allen declined to comment, but the film, which had been caught in a legal dispute and is not likely to get a large U.S. distribution, recently screened for an independent distributor as a “professional courtesy,” according to another source close to the project.
