Boxer, Lee Call on HHS to Address Rising Breast Cancer Rates for Black Women

A pair of Democratic lawmakers from California called on the Department of Health and Human Services to act on the rising rate of breast cancer in black women following a study released by the American Cancer Society last week.

Sen. Barbara Boxer and Rep. Barbara Lee today asked for details on how the public health and research institutes at the agency plan to address the findings, which showed that the breast cancer death rate for black women is 42 percent higher than for white women.
