Rep. Rubén Hinojosa today said he will not run for re-election next year. The 10-term Democrat represents a safely Democratic district in Texas that spreads from the southernmost tip of the state, in the border town of McAllen, up to the outskirts of San Antonio.
“It is with a profound sense of gratitude and emotion that I announce my decision not to seek re-election to the U.S. Congress,” Hinojosa said Friday morning at a news conference in McAllen. “I will finish my term for the people of my district when my term expires at the end of next year.”
